How do you set up payments so checkout just works?
Give shoppers the way they already like to pay.

People finish checkout when their normal way to pay is right there and abandon when it is not. What counts as normal is different by market, so the setup that works is the one that matches how your customers already pay.
Step 1: turn on the local ways to pay
That means cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Shop Pay. When a shopper's usual method is right there, they finish.
Step 2: cut the failed payments you can prevent
Declined cards and mistyped addresses quietly cost you orders. Turn on card retries and address checks so a fixable failure gets a second chance instead of a lost sale.
Step 3: test a real purchase
Run one real order through each payment type you turned on. A checkout that works in theory and fails on a phone is worse than none.
Step 4: keep the checkout short
Ask for only what you need to ship the order. Every extra field is a place someone gives up. Short checkouts finish more often.
Do this
Turn on the payment methods your shoppers use, cut the failures you can prevent, and test one real order per method.
You get
Shoppers pay the way they expect and finish more often, and you ship fewer parcels that come back.
